Special Delivery Obstetrics
An ever-increasing number of couples are choosing Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center as the place for the birth of their children.
Our OB department features LDR (Labor, Delivery, Recovery) Rooms, and both private and semi-private post-partum bedrooms. Offering a home-like atmosphere, the bedrooms are furnished with custom-made furniture and are decorated in appealing colors with coordinating curtains and window treatments.
Our professional staff provides highly individualized care using a mother-baby care model, and we pride ourselves in making each delivery as comfortable and as much a family-centered experience as possible.
Prepared Childbirth Classes Offered
Prepared Childbirth Classes at Twin Lakes Regional are also available. We offer the classes free of charge to expectant parents who will be delivering at our hospital. Parents who have attended childbirth classes in the past report greater satisfaction with their childbirth experience.
We offer a series of four classes several months each year. Information presented includes: (1) Discomforts of Pregnancy; (2) Nutrition; (3) Tools for Labor (exercises & techniques to help the mother-to-be deal with labor); (4) Infant Care and Feeding; (5) Infant CPR; (6) Mother Care; and (7) Preparation for C-Section.
Classes are held monthly, except in December.
Newborn Hearing Testing
Early detection of potential hearing problems can mean the difference between a normal childhood and one filled with difficulty. When hearing loss is not detected until age 2 or 3, experts say a child can lose the potential to develop speech and language.
During a time when consumers are being encouraged to become more personally involved in their health care, women are being advised to ask their physician if the hospital where they intend to deliver offers newborn hearing screening, and if not, to seek out a facility that does.
Thanks to a 1996 grant from the WHAS Crusade for Children and a donation from the Hospital Auxiliary to purchase the equipment, Twin Lakes Regional is among the small percentage of rural hospitals nationwide that offers the service, and was one of the first facilities to do so in the state.
