Hospital retains
Joint Commission accreditation
May, 2007 – By demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s
national standards for health care quality and safety, Twin Lakes Regional
Medical Center has once again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of
Approval™.
Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously
improving the safety and quality of the nation’s health care through
voluntary accreditation. The Joint Commission’s on-site survey of Twin
Lakes Regional occurred in May.
"Above all, the national standards are intended to stimulate
continuous, systematic and organization-wide improvement in an
organization’s performance and the outcomes of care," says Darlene
Christiansen, executive director, Hospital Accreditation Program, Joint
Commission. "The community should be proud that Twin Lakes Regional is
focusing on the most challenging goal — to continuously raise quality and
safety to higher levels."
CEO Stephen L. Meredith spoke of his pride in a staff whose members ask
what needs to be done to be accredited by The Joint Commission. "In
addition, they appreciate the educational aspect of the survey and the
opportunity to interact with the team of surveyors."
Meredith called the accreditation, "proof of an organization-wide
commitment to provide quality care on an ongoing basis."
The Twin Lakes Home Health Agency and the hospital's Laboratory have also
individually received Joint Commission accreditation in separate surveys.
Twin Lakes Home Health Agency listed
among the 2006 HomeCare Elite
December, 2006--
The Twin Lakes Home Health Agency has been named in the
2006 HomeCare EliteJ, the
inaugural compilation of the most successful home care providers in the
United States. This ground-breaking review names the top 25 percent of
those agencies whose performance measures in quality, improvement and
financial performance are the best. "We applaud the
success of all the providers named to the 2006 HomeCare Elite,"
said Bill Bassett, Senior Director of Market Strategy at OCS, Inc. "Being
noted as one of the top performers in the nation in this very competitive
environment shows an agency is dedicated to quality and performance."
"We’re extremely pleased that our outcomes have led to
this honor, not for ourselves but for our patients," said Home Health
Director, Mona Fulkerson. "This is not only a reflection of our agency, it’s a reflection of what our patients have to gain from
our staff."
Founded by a pioneer in the area of home care outcomes, OCS has provided organizations with performance improvement solutions
since 1992. For more information on OCS and the 2006 HomeCare Elite,

Walter T. Kelley Company
September, 2006-- A new era began for Clarkson’s
Walter T. Kelley Company when Tom Oller of Leitchfield was introduced to
employees as the factory’s new Chief Executive Officer on Monday morning,
Sept. 25. Based locally in Clarkson since 1952, the company manufactures
beekeeping equipment and promotes the production of honey.
Earlier this month, ownership of the Kelley Company
transitioned to the Grayson County Hospital Foundation, Inc. as directed
in the will of the company’s founder, Walter T. Kelley. Mr. Kelley and his
wife, Ida, wanted the legacy of their life’s work to continue to benefit
Grayson County and its residents long after their passing, and following
his wife’s death in 1978, Mr. Kelley made public their desire to name the
Hospital Foundation as the sole benefactor of their estate. Upon his death
in 1986, their business and assets were placed in a 20-year operating
Trust with the Foundation to eventually assume ownership.
Oller is well-known in Grayson County, having been a
part of the industrial community for more than 30 years. He was Accounting
Manager/Controller at the Robert Bosch Corporation (formerly Vermont
American) in Leitchfield from 1972 until the plant relocated to China in
2005. Since then, he has worked in the accounting department at Mid-Park,
Inc.
As he assumed duties Monday, Oller was reassuring as he spoke with
employees and Clarkson Mayor Bonnie Henderson and City Commissioner Scotty
Gore. "I’m excited about joining the company," Oller said. "Kelley is one
of the mainstays of Grayson County. It’s been here a lot of years and
hopefully will be here for a lot of years after I’m gone. Some of you may
have been nervous about what you were going t o hear this morning, but I
assure you, everything we do will be in the best interest of everyone
involved.
Oller said the employees better than
anyone know how to run the company, and asked that they be patient as he
learns his new role. Referring to long-time managers Sara Manion and Earl
King, Oller added, "All the decisions Sara, Earl and I make will be for
the best interest of the hospital and the Kelley Company. We want this to
be a win-win situation for everyone involved."
"First and foremost," he continued, "we want the Kelley
Company alive and well. We’ve lost too many jobs in Grayson County
already; we don’t want to lose anymore." Oller said his first order of
business would be getting out into the plant, meeting employees and
learning operations. "I already see a lot of familiar faces," he said,
"and I want to get to know all of you."
Mayor Henderson said she liked what she was hearing as Oller concluded,
"We are going to stay where we are, grow this business, and give our
children and grandchildren the opportunity to work here."
