Community Healthplex Capital Campaign

 

1. Why is it important to build the new Community Healthplex?

As our society has become more aware of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, it is more important than ever to have access to a health and recreational facility with a friendly, community-minded atmosphere. Senior citizens are more active than ever, and enjoy convenient access to wellness facilities, which enable them to maintain their health and physical fitness. Parents find reassurance in knowing that their children are engaging in well-supervised fitness activities. Families enjoy being together while participating in shared recreational programs. People in need of physical therapy and rehabilitation activities can benefit greatly by having easy access to a comprehensive wellness center. And, the entire region can benefit through the healthy lifestyle and disease support/presentation programs offered by such a positive local resource.

2. Why is it called the "Community" Healthplex?

Many residents of our area have seen the need for a wholesome, family -centered wellness and recreation facility for people of all ages -- children, teens adults, seniors and families. A community consortium made up of the City of Leitchfield, the Grayson County Fiscal Court, the Grayson County School System and Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center has organized a plan to explore the possibilities for creating such a vitally needed new resource. Once built, the new Healthplex will be available to the entire community for years to come.

3. What are some of the main features of the new Community Healthplex?

The new 52,000 sq. ft. Healthplex will provide comprehensive wellness, fitness and recreational facilities, equipment and programs. It will offer an array of programs and educational information to promote healthy lifestyles, as well as prevention and/or coping with disease.

4. How much will it cost to build the new Community Healthplex?

The total estimated cost for completing this project is $6 million.

5. How much will the Hospital itself contribute and how much is expected to be raised from the community?

The campaign will be a community-wide drive throughout Grayson County:

$1,000,000 contributed by Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center
$5,000,000 raised via community support
$6,000,000

Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center has committed $1 million, and the land, to this project.

6. How will the Community Healthplex by funded once it is built and who will operate it?

There will be affordable annual membership fees established, reimbursements from the hospital for therapeutic and rehabilitative services, and some modest program-related fees. Also, business memberships for employees will also be available. The hospital will operate this facility once it is built.

Additionally, the City of Leitchfield has committed $100,000 annually for operations of the facility. Located in Leitchfield next to the future Judicial Complex and near the Hospital, the Healthplex will be designed to serve all of the people of our county and the surrounding counties.

7. How does this fit into the Hospital’s overall Vision for the future?

The Healthplex will be designed to meet the wellness and fitness needs of local employers, physicians, and consumers, as well as those of seniors, individuals, adult couples and families. Additionally, the Healthplex will provide specialized resources to support smooth transitions for hospital rehabilitation patients and chronic disease patients -- mainstreaming them from clinically-based programs to on-going fitness programs where they still have professional guidance. The new Healthplex will result in a truly comprehensive health and recreation facility that all area people can enjoy for many years to come.

8. Who is being asked to contribute to the Healthplex Fundraising Campaign?

The people, businesses and organizations and communities throughout Grayson County are being asked to contribute to the Campaign.

9 How is the Campaign organized and who is leading it?

The project is being led by a Capital Campaign Committee of volunteers representing the communities within Grayson County.

10. When will the envisioned improvements begin and when will they be completed?

It is hoped that construction will commence in Spring 2007 with completion in 12 months.

11. What is the duration of the Campaign and what is the dollar goal?

The Campaign is scheduled to be completed by June 2007 and raise $6 million.

12. Over what period of time may I/we structure our pledge?

In most cases, pledges may be structured over a three-year payment period.

13. Can combined gifts be made by families and businesses?

Yes, combined gifts from families and businesses are welcome, and they may also be used to select appropriate Naming Opportunities.

14. Are pledges considered to be legally binding?

No. Simply inform the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center Foundation Administrative Offices in the event that your circumstances change.

15. If I make a pledge, will I be entitled to a free or discounted membership fee?

Offering a free or discounted membership in exchange for a pledge could make all or a portion of the corresponding donation ineligible for consideration as a tax exempt charitable donation in accordance with IRS guidelines. Additionally, pledges will provide the capital necessary to construct and equip the Community Healthplex while membership fees will be used to support its ongoing operations. Inasmuch, a pledge would not make someone eligible for a free or discounted membership.

16. Will memberships be affordable?

Yes. Membership fees will be structured to encourage participation on behalf of everyone within Grayson County with special consideration given to young people, senior citizens, and families with multiple memberships.

17. Are gifts tax-deductible?

Yes, the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) organization and gifts are tax-deductible as prescribed by law. A special restricted account has been established to handle the funds for the Healthplex project.
