Groundbreaking held for $15 million expansion

In front of a large crowd of employees and guests, ground was broken to mark the beginning of a major expansion at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Grayson County.

Before the groundbreaking, Kevin Shaw, president of the TLRMC board of directors, thanked employees for their hard work and sacrifices which he said made the expansion project possible. In his remarks, CEO Steve Meredith tied the 55,000 square feet of new space to the humble beginnings of the 14,000 square foot Grayson County War Memorial Hospital which opened in 1951. The existing facility was originally 56,000 square feet when it was opened in 1979 and is currently 175,000 square feet.

According to Meredith, "Carefully planned growth will create a more capable clinical environment. Improved access will be reflected in increased customer and employee satisfaction. Simply put, the expansion will make a good hospital even better." Meredith says this expansion is vital to the long term sustainability of Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center.

Members of the TLRMC board of directors turned over dirt to signify the beginning of the construction. They were joined by Rosetta Fulkerson and Jerry Mattingly, each of whom has been employed by hospital for over 40 years.
The leadership team at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center has been preparing for this expansion for many years. The expansion, which has been a vision of hospital executives since the new emergency room was built in 2000 and opened in 2001, shows progress both for the hospital and the community.
