Y-Club helps moms, babies get a Warm Start
January 16, 2009
Leitchfield, Ky. – Several students at Grayson County Middle School are helping moms and babies get off to a good start. Representatives from the Y-Club recently delivered the first “Warm Welcome” gift bags to the OB department at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center on January 15.

The bags were put together by club members using donated items, items purchased by the club and special handmade gifts. Adlee Van Meter, grandmother of Y-Club member Alisha Manion, crochets items for the newborns.
“The kids are very excited and came through with lots of creative ideas and gifts,” says Y-Club Advisor Melanie Manion. “They are a delightful group of students and I enjoy working with them. They are energetic, caring, and they display great leadership skills.”
The Y-Club won the second annual TLRMC “Make A Difference Day Challenge” in November. Part of the $500 first prize the group received is being used to purchase items for the gift bags not donated by students.
“All of Grayson County should be very proud of the service spirit these students are demonstrating, both through their Make A Difference Day activities and now this project,” said Steve Meredith, CEO of Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. “We are pleased they have chosen to reach out to families getting their start at our hospital.”
Anyone wishing to donate items for the gift bags can contact Melanie Manion at the Grayson County Middle School, 259-4175.
